Exploring Exercise: Learning to Move Mindfully

Exercise allows us to strengthen our mind/body connection, relieve stress and practice honoring intuitive cues. However, physical activity can be harmful if performed with the goal of burning calories for weight loss, especially for those struggling with body image issues or disordered eating.

This workshop will explore various motivations for exercise and examine the often-unintended pitfalls of using exercise without mental connection. Distinctions between movement, physical activity and exercise will be discussed and the concept of mindful movement will be explored. Attendees will receive tips to help themselves as well as loved ones recognize their intentions of exercise, and will be provided with resources for support.
