About the Presenters

Sarah Bateman, LCSW, has been practicing social work for the past 20 years. Ms. Bateman has a private practice with offices in New York and New Jersey, and specializes in treating eating disorders, as well as depression and anxiety. She also provides training for professionals and lectures in schools while working to raise awareness and understanding of eating disorders in the Jewish community. As the Renfrew Center’s Liaison to the Jewish community, she ensures that individuals with eating disorders in the Jewish community are able to receive culturally sensitive treatment and that their unique religious needs are met.

David Hahn, MD, has worked for The Renfrew Center at the Spring Lane residential program for the last 28 years. He has spent some of those years as the psychiatrist for the adolescent team and at other periods, for the team of older clients. For the last 12 years he has been the medical director. He has long been interested in providing services for the Jewish community – how to reduce barriers to entry for those that need our specialized services and how best to harness the power of Jewish affiliation in the recovery process.
