In recognizing National Eating Disorders Awareness Week (led by NEDA), February 21 – February 27, 2022, The Renfrew Center is sponsoring its annual support campaign. Our theme this year, Live Your REEL REAL Life, acknowledges the fact that social media is often referred to as a highlight reel. Posts on platforms like Instagram, TikTok and Facebook tend to depict only the perfect moments of our lives rather than portraying the full picture.

Join us for a variety of events throughout the week, including an Instagram Live video. Join us (@RenfrewCenter) to discuss how only seeing highlights from others can impact our mental health. Erin Birely, LCPC, will review Relational Cultural Theory concepts about how authenticity is important for true connection with others, how to embrace authenticity while using social media; reappraisals you can use if you notice comparison occurring; and accounts that show real life they could follow.

Facilitated by:

Erin Birely, LCPC, is the Team Leader at The Renfrew Center of Baltimore, also serving as Renfrew’s Alumni Services Coordinator. Ms. Birely has worked in the field of eating disorder treatment since receiving her Master’s degree in 2012. She enjoys working with people to make positive and long lasting changes in life through therapy and building their emotional tolerance.
