You’ve Served. Now It’s Time to Be Supported.
At The Renfrew Center, we understand that not all injuries are visible— and that many women veterans often live with experiences that don’t always show on the surface.
Disordered eating, substance use, and unresolved trauma also don’t always present in obvious ways. Sometimes it looks like staying in control, pushing past discomfort, or sticking to a routine—until the routine starts to take over. You may not call it an eating disorder, but you know something’s off. That’s where we come in—providing tailored eating disorder treatment and care for women veterans.

Eating Disorder Services We Offer
Renfrew specializes in treating anorexia nervosa, bulimia nervosa, binge eating disorder, and the full spectrum of disordered eating, with targeted programming for veterans who are navigating co-occurring PTSD, substance use, trauma, or chronic medical conditions like diabetes.
Whether you’re just recognizing the need for support or have tried treatment before, our program offers specialized programming for women designed to treat eating disorders and the complex emotional and psychological layers that often accompany military service.
- Specialized Tracks for Trauma and Substance Use: Our team integrates Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) with Renfrew’s Unified Treatment Model for Eating Disorders®, designed to address the root drivers—not just the symptoms.
- Varying Levels of Care in Different Locations: Residential, Day Treatment (PHP), and Intensive Outpatient (IOP) levels of care—plus virtual treatment in more than 25 states through Renfrew@Home.

- You’ve been told by a doctor, provider, or family member that something’s not right

Getting Started For Veterans
You do not need a diagnosis to reach out. We accept referrals through the Veterans Affairs Community Care Network (CCN). The Renfrew Center is an approved provider in the VA’s CCN for Regions 1, 2, and 3—which includes much of the Eastern, Southeastern, and Midwestern United States.
If you are located in these regions, you may be eligible to access all levels of care through Renfrew—including Residential, Day Treatment (PHP), Intensive Outpatient (IOP), and Virtual Programming through Renfrew@Home. A referral from your VA provider is required, and our team is here to support you every step of the way once that’s in place.
We then will set you up for an assessment. The assessment is a conversation—a chance to talk through what’s been going on, what’s working, and what isn’t. You’ll speak with a clinician who knows how to ask the right questions. We focus on what you need—not what labels you fit—and we’ll walk you through next steps if care makes sense.
When You’re Ready:
- Talk to your VA provider. Let them know you’re interested in eating disorder treatment and want to be referred to The Renfrew Center through the CCN.
- The VA will submit the referral. Once approved, the VA will coordinate with Renfrew to authorize your care.
- We’ll handle the rest. Once we receive the referral, we’ll reach out to schedule your assessment and walk you through next steps.
