Advancing the Treatment of Eating Disorders

The Renfrew Center is committed to continually evaluating how our eating disorder treatment approach impacts the recovery of our patients. In 2018, Renfrew’s research department published a ground-breaking study highlighting the effectiveness of our treatment. These findings were published in 2023.

Patients keep getting better even after they leave Renfrew.

Improvement in eating disorder symptoms, experiential avoidance and depression symptoms were maintained for at least six months after discharge for patients who received residential care utilizing The Renfrew Center Unified Treatment Model for Eating Disorders® (UTM).

This study is just one example of how the work of our industry-leading research team enhances the quality of care that patients receive at Renfrew.

How Research Informs Treatment

The Renfrew Center is continually seeking new insight into the causes, prevention and treatment of eating disorders, and then applying that insight both inside Renfrew and in the wider eating disorder treatment community.
