Eating Disorders and Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder can frequently occur alongside each other. This dynamic presentation will review the complexities of addressing these co-occurring conditions. An overview of current literature and case examples will highlight the challenges of differential diagnosis and treatment planning. Participants will then learn about evidence-based practices including the use of exposure, building a comprehensive treatment team, and navigating pitfalls. Attendees will receive practical guidance to work with patients effectively and competently in various treatment settings.

About the Presenter
Melanie Smith, PhD, LMHC, CEDS-S, is the Director of Training for The Renfrew Center. In this role she is responsible for developing and implementing clinical training and programming that is consistent with emerging research and evidence-based practice. Dr. Smith is co-author of the peer-reviewed treatment manual and patient workbook, The Renfrew Unified Treatment Model for Eating Disorders and Comorbidity published by Oxford University Press. Dr. Smith is a Certified Eating Disorders Specialist and Approved Supervisor and is a Certified Therapist & Trainer of the Unified Protocol for the Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders (UP).
