The Renfrew Center, internationally renowned leader and pioneer in the field of eating disorders, offers Jewish programming for those patients who choose to participate. This option has been integrated into Renfrew’s evidence-based Unified Treatment Model for Eating Disorders®.
As a non-denominational treatment facility, Renfrew’s mission is to provide a safe and healing community for women from all backgrounds. This reflects our commitment to Jewish girls and women who, together with our team of experts, will discover the factors that maintain their symptoms and move toward a return to health. Our in-depth Jewish programming embraces those who seek r’fuat hanefesh – healing of the spirit.
For those who choose to participate, Renfrew’s Jewish programming welcomes and accommodates all women along the continuum of religious observance. Renfrew’s collaborative treatment approach addresses a wide range of meaningful Jewish-based topics for exploration and reflection—the place of food in life, body image, Jewish identity, family tradition, faith, perfectionism, and more. Through the healing power of Jewish rituals, traditions, prayers, and blessings, participants will be able to examine their attitudes and personal relationship to Judaism and move forward in the recovery process.
Renfrew’s clinicians are sensitive to the customs and practices of Judaism. All meals served within Jewish programming are kosher and supplied either by vendors or catered by restaurants under the strict supervision of Rabbis. All food is kept separate, all plates and eating utensils are disposable and all serving pieces are clearly marked for kosher use only.
Our programming is distinctive in its scope and depth and is designed to serve a unique population of Jewish girls and women seeking true healing from an eating disorder.
