About the Training
Refresh your understanding of eating disorders and LGBTQIA+ issues and learn the importance of how these two aspects of an individual’s life intersect and have an impact on one another.
In this virtual 2 CE training, attendees will learn strategies to create safe space for LGBTQIA+ clients to explore their thoughts, feelings and behaviors. Best practices for healing, including interventions for individuals, groups and families, will be addressed. There will be time for questions during the Q&A following the presentation itself—nothing is off limits.
The Renfrew Center Foundation is approved by the American Psychological Association to sponsor continuing education for psychologists. The Renfrew Center Foundation maintains responsibility for the program and its content.

About the Presenter
Christine Vara, LCSW-C, LICSW, M.Div. (She, Her, Hers or He, Him, His), is the Team Leader at The Renfrew Center of Bethesda, MD. Christine provides clinical supervision, along with individual, family and group counseling for adolescents, families and adults with eating disorders. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and English from Clark University, a Master’s of Divinity from Pacific School of Religion, and a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Simmons University. Christine is particularly interested in working at the intersection of trauma, eating disorders and addiction, and how that connects to identities of gender, race, sexuality and religion/spirituality. Christine utilizes a variety of therapeutic modalities in her relational, strengths-based and trauma-informed approach.
