Breaking the Cycle: Treating Emotional Eating and
BED Through a Transdiagnostic Approach

Presented by: Samantha DeCaro, PsyD
Assistant Clinical Director, The Renfrew Center of Philadelphia - Spring Lane

Wednesday, October 14, 2020
12:00 pm - 1:00 pm (EDT)

Binge Eating Disorder (BED) is three times more common than Anorexia Nervosa and Bulimia Nervosa combined, affecting all gender, age, racial, religious, and socioeconomic groups. The most common eating disorder in the United States, one in ten individuals who pursue weight loss treatment actually show signs of BED.

This webinar will include a short overview of the DSM-V diagnostic criteria, an explanation behind the prevalence of BED and approaches for effective treatment. The relationship between BED symptoms and emotional avoidance will be examined and Renfrew’s transdiagnostic treatment for binge eating will be explored. Following the presentation, attendees will be able to effectively plan and execute a binge/food exposure with their clients.
