Eating disorders are complex illnesses that can affect individuals of all genders, ages, races, religions, ethnicities, and sexual orientations. They are serious and often fatal, commonly associated with severe disturbances in eating behaviors, related thoughts and emotions.
Join The Renfrew Center of Charlotte for an interactive professional presentation where we will discuss how to identify when a client may be struggling with an eating disorder as well as evidence-based treatment options provided by Renfrew.

About the Presenters:
Deborah Walsh, LPC, is the Team Leader at The Renfrew Center of Charlotte. She received her Bachelor’s degree in English Literature and Writing from Calvin College in Michigan and her Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at The University of North Carolina at Charlotte. In her current role, Ms. Walsh supervises clinical staff and interns, and has extensive experience in providing individual, family, and group therapy. She specializes in integrating trauma work and Christian-based therapy into the treatment of eating disorders.
Jessica Berens, RD, LDN, is the Regional Nutrition Manager and Registered Dietitian at The Renfrew Center of Charlotte. She received a dual-Bachelor’s degree in Food Science & Human Nutrition and Psychology from The University of Florida. At The Renfrew Center of Charlotte, Ms. Berens assists patients in exploring beliefs about nutrition and body image in additional to helping them identify the connections between food choices, exercise and emotions. She specializes in Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID) as well as bringing weight neutral language and goals into higher levels of care.
