  • Trusting After Trauma: Building Trauma-Informed Community and Connections
Silvia Serrano, MS & Marialena Rago, M.S., NCC
Undergoing and surviving trauma can lead us to struggle with trust in our relationships. This workshop, grounded in a lens of trauma-informed care, will explore the connections we build with ourselves, our bodies, and those around us, with a focus on cultivating support systems and community.
  • A New Story for My Table: Nourishment, Connection, and Culture in Recovery
Skylar Mercer, RDN & Amy Smith, MS
Food plays such a significant role in our lives. It nourishes us, offers us pleasure and satisfaction, and can connect us to our culture and to our communities. Meanwhile, diet culture says that food must always have a purpose or that it can be “good” or “bad.” As we challenge this rigidity in recovery, we will explore how food can instead be a meaningful tool of celebration and connection.

  • Roots and Wings: Finding Connections to Ground Us and Carry Us Forward
Susan Kleinman, MA, BC-DMT, NCC, CEDS-C & Deanna Young, MA, Pre-Doctoral Intern
The connections that grounded us in treatment are what can carry us forward in life. In this experiential workshop, we will revisit how our feelings, thoughts, and actions can revitalize our relationship with our “self” and others. Attendees are welcome to bring a cherished stuffed animal to this session.

  • Grab your lunch and join fellow alumni and Renfrew clinicians Caroline Harrington, MS, RDN, LDN, CHES, Maria Jose Viteri, RDN, and Madison Doten. Meals will not be checked off by staff supports and an honor system will be in place that attendees are following their recovery-oriented meal goals.

Reminder: Pick 1 workshop.

  • Connecting Your Body with Nutrition
Maria Jose Viteri, RDN, Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor & Caroline Harrington, MS, RDN, LDN
Nutrition empowers us by fueling us with energy to sustain ourselves, listen to our body’s cues, break free of food-related shame or fear, and transform our lives. Nutrition can help us live a value-driven and connected life! In this workshop, attendees will learn ways to achieve their nutritional needs, how nutrition plays a vital role in overall recovery, and can support us to build relationships with others and live our life to the fullest.
  • When Recovery Feels Lonely: Bridges Back to Belonging
Janine Furdella, PhD & Alex Schmidt, PhD
We often speak of eating disorders as disorders of disconnection. Eating disorders can be isolating, and recovery might feel that way as well, especially if we keep our feelings to ourselves. This workshop will create a sense of belonging for participants to explore how to give and receive emotional support from fellow alumni and support people, ultimately fostering community.
  • Connecting to Our Inner Worth
Clementine Nixon, MA, ATR-P, LAPC & Hannah Schor-Engel, MA, NCC
Art can help us “picture” our hopes, ideas, and inspirations. Through this creative experience, participants will be invited to explore and even discover their own inner strength and intrinsic value, and how it empowers them to connect with others in meaningful ways. Participants are encouraged to bring their own art supplies such as drawing materials, collage supplies, or mixed media, for a very personalized creative experience.

Reminder: Pick 1 workshop.

  • Connecting With Your Body
Gabrielle Bailey, MSC & Corina Gomez, MS, LMHC
Recovery requires working through many intense fears and challenges, and body image fears and distress can feel like some of the most difficult. Cultivating connection to one’s body to better understand one’s body image and all the parts that make it up can be a key piece of one’s journey. In this workshop, participants will foster their relationship with body image and identify strategies to deepen connection to the body.
  • Connecting With Your Needs
Kristin Gilson, MSW, LSW & Rachel Tannenbaum, PsyD, BCB
Self-care can connect us to our physical, emotional, and social needs. It can ignite and inspire us while even modeling strength and gentleness to others too! This workshop will focus on self-care as a way to connect with ourselves and others too. Participants will learn about prioritizing self-care in recovery, the pillars of self-care, and ways to incorporate it in our daily lives.

  • A Secure Foundation: Creating Connections By Setting Boundaries
Leah Guba, LSW, Hannah Schor-Engel, MA, NCC & Marialena Rago, M.S., NCC
Despite what we may think, establishing healthy boundaries is not about isolating ourselves. Rather it’s about creating a secure foundation for deeper, meaningful connections. If boundaries support healthy relationships, why do so many of us prioritize the wants and needs of others over our own? Do you struggle with this skill? Let’s practice together!

  • Join us to close out the day, hosted by Erin Birely, LCPC, The Renfrew Center’s Alumni Services Coordinator.

As a reminder, a confirmation email for each workshop you registered for will be sent by Zoom and contain your attendee link.
