Connecticut Outpatient Groups

Adolescent Eating Disorders Group

Adolescent girls struggling to overcome anorexia, bulimia or other disordered eating patterns involving binge eating or restricting can benefit from this weekly group.  Led by experienced therapists, the sessions provide a safe, supportive atmosphere where group members explore triggers to their eating disorders as well as issues concerning body image, relationships, school, work and home. 


Eating Disorders Group
Women struggling to overcome anorexia, bulimia or other disordered eating patterns involving binge eating or restricting can benefit from these weekly groups.  Led by experienced therapists, the sessions provide a safe, sympathetic atmosphere where group members explore what triggers their eating disorders as well as issues concerning body image, relationships, school, work and home. A therapeutic approach that allows women to recognize and confront negative thoughts and feelings about their bodies and to replace them with realistic and healthy views about themselves is used.

Emotional Eating Group
A weekly group that helps women overcome compulsive overeating and make positive lifestyle changes.  The group focuses on the needs of the participants and may include looking deeper at culture, family and self within a sympathetic and safe atmosphere.

Drop-in Group

Multi-Family Group
When: Tuesdays
Time: 7:00 pm
Where: The Renfrew Center of Connecticut
Who: Open to the public
Cost: $20 per session
This group is open to the public and attended by current, former and prospective patients, as well as their friends, partners and family members. The facilitator is an experienced therapist who emphasizes the healing power of families and other key relationships in the process of their loved one’s recovery. The open discussion focuses on the influence of family communication styles and roles in eating disorder treatment.
