Events:

Free Community Event to Celebrate National Eating Disorders Awareness Week - This is ME!

The Renfrew Center of Chicago invites you to join us for a lively discussion about both the challenges and benefits of living an authentic life. In contrast to the social media ‘highlight reels’ and self-censorship that dominate our online world, we hope you will choose this opportunity to participate in real conversation about relationships, body image, careers, family, and food.

The evening will focus on learning to let go of the need to “fit in” with societal norms and take risks to achieve a more fulfilling life.

At this event, you will:

  • Explore the messages you receive about how you should look, act and feel
  • Identify where these messages come from: social media, family, friends, and community
  • Discuss the challenges and benefits of letting go of unrealistic expectations you may have for yourself
  • Learn how to take the steps to begin the process of speaking your truth and engage in unapologetic living

Light refreshments will be served • Walk-ins welcome

Date: Wednesday, February 28, 2018
Time: 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

2 CE Event for Professionals

Bringing Research into the Room:
Making Evidence-Based Practices Come Alive

Presented by: Heather Russo, MA, MFT, CEDS
Regional Assistant Vice President & Site Director at The Renfrew Center of Los Angeles

Clinicians strive to do right by their clients but often struggle to implement the recommended evidence-based practices that are outlined in research studies and treatment manuals. A bridge spanning that gap between research and practice will be explored through clinicians’ deeper understanding and use of transdiagnostic therapy practices.

In this workshop, attendees will learn how to keep a focus on client engagement while integrating evidence-based practices into their daily clinical work. Strategies to deliver evidence-based treatments in a manner that energizes both clinician and client will be provided.

Date: Wednesday, April 4, 2018
Registration: 8:30 am - 9:00 am
Seminar: 9:00 am - 11:00 am
Location: The Renfrew Center of Chicago
Cost: $20 • A light breakfast will be served
