Family Involvement at Renfrew
At Renfrew, we feel that loved ones are a valuable source of support throughout the patient’s stay and long after her return home.
In order to maintain family involvement in treatment, and support your needs as your loved one recovers, The Renfrew Center offers:
- Family therapy and parental consultations.
- Multi-Family Groups, which are open to the public and attended by current, former and prospective patients, as well as their friends, partners and family members. The facilitator is an experienced therapist who emphasizes the healing power of families and other key relationships in the process of their loved one’s recovery. The open discussion focuses on the influence of family communication styles and roles in eating disorder treatment.
- Parent Support Groups, which focus on the particular needs of the parents of those with eating disorders.
- Family Retreat Weekends for family and friends of our current residents. During the retreat, you will learn how to play an integral role in the recovery process through educational and interactive workshops led by our clinical staff. By gaining a greater understanding of eating disorders, and meeting and interacting with other families, you may be better able to provide the support and empathy your loved one needs as she courageously pursues recovery.
